WHAT IS DRAIN CLEANING?

Drain cleaning encompasses all drains such as sinks, tubs, showers, washer machines, toilets, downspouts, etc. Drain cleaning is the process of unclogging an obstructed drain pipe. Once noticed, cleaning out a blocked drain pipe is essential to avoiding a potential overflow. These drain blockages can come from hair, shampoos, conditioners, laundry detergents, cooking oils, fats, corrosion, roots, or structurally compromised drains.  Drain cleaning is a process best left to the drain plumber professionals at United Sewer & Water to avoid causing irreversible brain damage.

Drain cleaning can pertain to a variety of drains, not just one particular drain. Some drains we typically provide service for include but, are not limited to floor drains, sink drains, washer machine drains, toilet drains, bathtub/shower drains, yard drains, and downspouts. Clogged drains can derive from numerous factors like tree roots, grease build, gunk accumulation, corrosion, or broken piping.

HOW TO KNOW IF A DRAIN NEEDS TO BE CLEANED?

Some common notable signs of a drain needing to be cleaned are if it is slow draining, completely stagnant, backing up, bubbling, or releasing a foul odor. Clogged drains could also cause the drain piping to leak if the water pressure inside the drain has exceeded its maximum capacity. Sewer CLEANING SERVICE

WHAT IS SEWER CLEANING?

Sewer cleaning is the process of unclogging a clogged sewer line. Cleaning out a blocked sewer pipe is essential to avoiding a disastrous sewer backup. Sewer blockages can come from excessive grease build-ups such as soaps, laundry detergents, cooking oils, foods, or fats. Sewer clogs can also derive from corrosion, roots, or structurally compromised sewer lines.  Sewer cleaning is best left to the sewer plumber professionals at United Sewer & Water to avoid causing irreversible sewer damage.

HOW TO KNOW IF A SEWER NEEDS TO BE CLEANED?

Some common notable signs of a sewer needing to be cleaned are:

     • If showers or bathtubs in the basement or lowest level of the establishment become slow draining or completely stagnant. Sometimes dark debris or grainy /sandy material can be left around the drain, indicating there was a brief backup and the drain should be professionally cleaned.

    • If a toilet begins backing up and that particular toilet has not been in recent use. Before the toilet overflows, you may start to hear the toilet drain bubbling. It is also possible to start seeing water seep from underneath the toilet to relieve some of the built-up pressure from the sewer clog.

    • Clogged sewers could also cause the sewer pipe to leak if the water pressure built up inside of the sewer has exceeded its maximum capacity. or releases a foul odor.

United Sewer & Water’s sewer cleaning services include but, are not limited to electrical snaking, hydro jetting, and pipe descaling.

HYDRO-JETTING Service

WHAT IS HYDRO-JETTING?

Hydro jetting, high-velocity water jetting, drain jetting or simply just water jetting is a drain cleaning process in which pressurized water is flushed through a drain or waste pipe to thoroughly wash away any obstructions or build-up. The machinery is most often gas-powered and usually parked outside of the establishment during service. Hoses are then drawn from our hydro jet machines, which are mounted into every fleet truck. The hoses are inserted into the sewer or drain and ready for hydro-jetting service. Hydro-jetting is a more thorough drain-cleaning process than electrical snaking.

Typically, electrically snaking a clogged sewer or drain can regain water flow if the stoppage is not too severe or if the pipe is not broken. However, what if you wanted to wash the drain clean and not just partially regain water flow?

Hydro Jetting is ideal for removing excessive grease build-up that electrical snakes cannot thoroughly remove. Also, hydro-jetting is preferred over electrical snaking in circumstances of heavy root intrusion. As opposed to a spinning, cabling machine with blades, hydro-jetting uses pressurized water dispensed through specialized nozzles on the end of a hose to cut and remove stubborn obstructions occupying the inner diameter of the piping. Hydro-jetting scrapes the full circumference of the inside of drains and sewers.

HOW TO KNOW IF YOU SHOULD HYDRO-JET YOUR SEWER / DRAIN?

Grease can build up inside sewer lines or tree roots can grow inside and obstruct the path of water leaving minimal room for fluid to flow. Water jetting is the process of using highly pressurized water to clear an obstruction that has clogged the flow inside a sewer or drain. Hydro jetting also removes soap residue and food build-up aside from tree roots, and heavy grease accumulation. In the event other drain cleaning processes fail, try hydro-jetting. Some telltale signs of needing a hydro-jet are:

    • If your sewer line is completely clogged and machinery cannot pass a certain amount of linear footage.

    • Excessive grease or roots are being removed from the sewer but, the pipe remains blocked.

    • Total linear footage of sewer/drain to be serviced exceeds the length of approximately 75 to 100 feet.

VIDEO CAMERA INSPECTION

Video cameras are one of the insightful tools for our sewer and drain company. Sewer line inspection cameras allow our technicians to reveal the condition of sewer lines and other drain pipes underground. Frequent sewer backups often occur due to a lack of understanding on how to prevent them from happening. Drain camera inspections can save you from unwanted emergencies or avoidable high-end expenses. Drain inspections should be performed before every home or building purchase to prepare for any chronic sewer and drain issues that may otherwise have been hidden. Sewer line camera inspections can be performed on any sewer line or drain pipe 3 inches or larger.
